DESCRIPTION
This 1974 gem by Brazilian composer Octavio Burnier is a hidden treasure of Brazil’s rich musical legacy, blending MPB (Música Popular Brasileira), soul, jazz, disco, and boogie into a lush, sun-drenched soundscape. Reminiscent at times of Steely Dan with its intricate arrangements, the album is built on deep guitar lines, smooth keys, and breezy vocal layers that drift and groove with understated finesse.

Highly sought-after among collectors and DJs, this record has gained cult status—not only for its musical sophistication but also for its rarity and price on the secondary market. Its influence continues to echo today: the track "Aldeia Global" was sampled by Andrés in his collaboration with Kenny Dixon Jr. aka Moodymann on "Sing About It", and by Kaytranada for his flip of Janet Jackson’s "Alright".

Championed by tastemakers like Floating Points, Jazzanova, Dego (2000Black), Benji B, Gilles Peterson, and Hunee, the album was co-produced and arranged by legendary figures Arthur Verocai and Luiz Bonfá (Burnier’s uncle), infusing it with deep musical lineage and arrangement mastery.

This Mr Bongo reissue is an official, fully licensed release from Sony, meticulously remastered and presented in a replica of the original artwork—part of a continuing effort to spotlight timeless classics from the global underground.
