It’s been 10 years since the first DJ’s Choice parties lit up basements and squatted social centers across Rome. Much has changed since those early days, but the spirit remains: music as a tool for self-expression and cultural identity.
RM stands for Rebel Music, the sound and vision of The Rebel, founder of DJ’s Choice — but it also stands for Rome, the city that gave rise to this unique blend of Italian underground hip hop and global street soul.
Track one features none other than Danno, Roman hip hop royalty and a founding member of Colle Der Fomento, one of Italy’s most iconic underground crews. His gritty vocals, delivered with Jedi-like precision, set the tone for an EP that bridges Rome and New York with confident ease.
Joining The Rebel on the second half of the project are The Good People, a NY-based hip hop duo who lend their lyrical prowess to “Body Rockin’,” a vintage boom-bap burner that gets a hard-hitting remix by Italian hip hop legend Ice One — whose “Hip Hop Room” version blends classic flavor with Italian attitude.
From Rome’s cobblestone alleys to NYC’s subway lines, Rebel Music connects two scenes with shared roots and mutual respect.
