BLACK LIGHTS – MINUS GROUP (ENZO MINUTI)
A summer-tinged psych-dub oddity from an unsung Italian maestro

A little psych-dub masterpiece recorded in 1981 by the elusive Minus Group, a mysterious studio project led by multi-instrumentalist Enzo Minuti (also known as Ezy Minus). This 7-inch single presents two versions of the same composition, each one offering a distinct atmosphere while showcasing Minuti’s imaginative production and instrumental flair.

On Side A, "Black Lights" delivers an afro-dub version with hypnotic saxophone and synth phrasings (both played by Minuti), weirdly processed choir vocals, and repetitive, trance-like percussion. It’s moody, deep, and just off-kilter enough to feel like it was beamed in from a dream.

Side B, "Black Lights (Flute Version)", reimagines the track as a tropical downtempo jam, where Caribbean/cinematic vibes mingle with claves, flute melodies, clapping rhythms, and minimalist synth flourishes – as if caught in a late-night session under the influence of something psychedelic and sublime.

Both tracks exude a deliciously summery flavor and are perfect for any sunset DJ set or breezy listening session with a touch of mystique.

This release serves as a preview for a full compilation of Enzo Minuti's library music, due out this autumn on Four Flies – a long-overdue celebration of one of Italy’s unsung sonic visionaries.
