DESCRIPTION
Back in stock due to popular demand — the 33rd release in the signature Brazil 45’s series from Mr Bongo. A spellbinding pairing of Márcio Lott’s ultra-rare, sun-soaked groover ‘Tema de Baby’ and the samba-rock fusion brilliance of Silvio César’s ‘A Festa’.
Márcio Lott’s ‘Tema de Baby’ is a true rarity. It took significant time and effort to secure the license, and Mr Bongo is thrilled to present it as part of this celebrated series. A laid-back slice of sunshine-soaked samba-rock, funk, and MPB — complete with Ramsey Lewis-style piano flourishes, wah-wah guitars, and soft, soulful vocals. Originally released on 7” by Tapecar in 1974, this one is a true digger’s delight.
Silvio César’s ‘A Festa’ came to Mr Bongo’s attention thanks to the almighty Brazilian Beats Brooklyn crew. A certified stormer and a firm favourite at HQ, it blends jazzy samba-rock with disco flourishes, floating synths, sharp hi-hats, punchy drums, and party ambience throughout. Originally featured on César’s 1977 LP Som E Palavras and included in the Brazilian Beats Brooklyn compilation, it’s a standout groove with undeniable dancefloor appeal.
