DESCRIPTION
Originally released in 1972, Pierrot by Hiroshi Segawa is a striking anomaly in the landscape of Japanese rock. At a time when most bands were emulating British psychedelia, Segawa boldly embraced country rock and Southern-inflected songwriting—delivered entirely in Japanese. The result is a deeply heartfelt, musically adventurous album that stands apart in the canon of '70s Japanese music.
Joined by an all-star lineup from the New Rock era—including Hideki Ishima and Jun Kozuki (Flower Travellin’ Band), Tetsu Yamauchi (Samurai), Yuushin Harada, and Katsuo Ohno (PYG)—Segawa constructs a sound both timeless and evocative. This reissue also includes the haunting single “Kimi ga Ita Shiroi Heya,” originally released a year after the album.
Remastered by Makoto Kubota (ex-Les Rallizes Dénudés) and presented with deluxe packaging, this definitive edition brings a long-overlooked gem back into the spotlight for collectors and connoisseurs alike.
