DESCRIPTION
The Globeflower Masters Vol. 1 is the stunning debut collaboration between Brighton-based musicians Glenn Fallows (The Impellers / Andres y Xavi) and Mark Treffel (Blue States / The Soul Steppers). Taking cues from legendary composers like David Axelrod, Ennio Morricone, Serge Gainsbourg, Jean-Claude Vannier, and Piero Umiliani, the duo have created a lush, cinematic journey that feels timeless and atmospheric.
Born out of the creative stillness of Summer 2020, the album is a carefully curated homage to vintage soundtrack and library music of the late ‘60s and early ‘70s. What began as a vision from Glenn—anchored in his love for soundtrack textures—soon blossomed into a full collaborative project with Mark, who brought a trove of vintage synths, pianos, and analog textures to the table.
The result is a beautifully orchestrated eight-track album filled with warmth, drama, and nostalgia. From sweeping string arrangements to rich instrumental interplay, each track feels like a scene in a lost film, evoking a spectrum of moods that are equally suited for introspective winter evenings or sun-drenched summer afternoons.
Rather than merely mimicking the past, Vol. 1 breathes new life into a classic form. It is as emotionally resonant and fresh as it is retro and refined. A remarkable debut that hints at enduring legacy—a modern cinematic soul classic in the making.
