DESCRIPTION

Madlib’s Beat Konducta Vol. 1-2: Movie Scenes brings together the first two official volumes of his acclaimed Beat Konducta series. Originally released in 2006, the collection is presented as the soundtrack to an imaginary film, with Madlib building 35 short instrumental scenes from chopped samples, dusty drums and cinematic textures.

Moving through Blaxploitation soul, African psychedelia, Tropicalia, jazz, funk and progressive rock, the album captures Madlib’s distinctive approach to instrumental hip-hop at its most playful and unpredictable. The 2LP Sires Split edition combines Vol. 1: Movie Scenes and Vol. 2: Movie Scenes, The Sequel into one continuous collection.
