Bush Doctor is the third studio album by Jamaican reggae legend Peter Tosh, released in 1978. The album marked Tosh’s debut for Rolling Stones Records and features his distinctive combination of roots reggae, political commentary and socially conscious songwriting.
The album features appearances from Mick Jagger and Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones, with Jagger providing vocals on “(You Gotta Walk) Don’t Look Back.” Bush Doctor also includes Tosh’s acclaimed cover of “Stand Up,” originally written by Bob Marley, as well as the title track “Bush Doctor” and the politically charged “Dem Ha Fe Get A Beaten.”
With its powerful rhythms, outspoken lyrics and uncompromising message, Bush Doctor remains one of Peter Tosh’s essential solo albums and a landmark release in roots reggae.
