DESCRIPTION
The “Drukqs” LP by Aphex Twin is being released on Warp and marks the 25th anniversary of the 2001 album; the reissue brings “Drukqs” to a standard vinyl format for the first time, once again making all Aphex Twin albums available on vinyl. This edition gathers well-known tracks such as “Avril 14th” and “QKThr,” offering both the familiar piano moments and the complex, rhythmically intricate tracks within a cohesive vinyl concept that appeals equally to collectors and new listeners.
Musically, the release showcases the full range of the original: quiet, piano-centered compositions sit alongside meticulously programmed pieces that are often unusually constructed. Some passages were created using a Disklavier and prepared-piano techniques, which explains the acoustic character of the piano-focused numbers while at the same time contrasting with the electronic processing of the drum patterns. The reissue on Warp thus offers the opportunity to experience “Drukqs” once again as a coherent album that combines historic moments of the electronic avant-garde with meticulous craftsmanship.
