DESCRIPTION

Eccentric Folk Soul brings together a collection of rare and deeply expressive recordings from the Black music underground of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Released by Numero Group, the compilation explores a distinctive meeting point between folk songwriting and soul, where stripped-back arrangements, socially conscious lyrics and intimate performances challenge the conventions of both genres.

Across 12 tracks, artists including Trevor Dandy, Shira Small, Willie Wright and Alice Swoboda deliver songs shaped by personal reflection, political awareness and unconventional songcraft. The result is a raw and compelling portrait of an overlooked corner of American soul music.
