Seam splits on record jackets are a common occurrence with vinyl: we cannot issue refunds or replacements for seam splits. We use sturdy mailers and stiffeners to minimise risk but to 100% avoid seam splits, we have added a notes section at checkout where you can request jacket-less shipping, or you can email us after placing your order — we’ll gladly accommodate this free of charge.
Description
My Own Worst Enemy is a collaboration between two of the most respected men in Rap—Roxbury’s Edo G & Mount Vernon, NY’s Pete Rock. Pete mailed physical beat tapes to Edo in Boston and he chose from them to create the ode to his home “Boston” that was heard across the city shortly after the Red Sox ended their 86 year World Series drought.
Contributors include Special Teamz member Jaysaun on “Just Call My Name”, “Streets Is Callin”—produced by and featuring longtime collaborator and former labelmate Diamond D and “Stop Dat” also featuring Lawtown’s Krumb Snatcha and Soul Brother #1 Pete Rock.
Ed & Pete team up again on “Right Now!” Edo waxes poetic with his A&E partner Masta Ace on the DJ Supreme produced “Wishing” where they imagine a better world we’re all still hoping comes to fruition one day. On tracks like “Voices” and “School ‘Em” Edo G drops the bars, Pete supplies the beat and the hook—showcasing the everlasting classic appeal of a true partnership between an emcee and producer on wax. Nothing beats the chemistry between two Rap veterans who’ve mastered the art of making concise bodies of work and honed them over decades.
The grand finale is the kinetic “Revolution” produced by DJ Revolution of the world famous Wake Up Show with Sway & King Tech. Reissued and remastered by Coalmine Reissues—where every detail matters—My Own Worst Enemy forever preserves in amber for future generations of Rap listeners the essence of Rap virtuosity as provided by two of the genre’s elder statesmen. -Dart Adams
