DESCRIPTION

Originally released in 1971 on Flirt Records, Paese Sotto Inchiesta is a bold, experimental artifact of Italy’s music library golden age. Created by the enigmatic duo Braen (a pseudonym for the legendary Alessandro Alessandroni) and Peymont (linked to the mysterious American-Italian composer David Hoyt Kimball), this album blends avant-garde textures with socio-political undertones that mirror Italy’s turbulent post-1968 climate.

Unlike commercial soundtracks tied to cinema, Paese Sotto Inchiesta was composed free from creative constraints, embracing atonal structures, ambient flourishes, and stark rhythmic repetition. Its 17 tracks reflect themes of southern Italian disenfranchisement, corruption, ecological anxiety, and social stagnation. With echoing flutes, abstract guitar phrases, reverberating keyboard drones, and sonic traces of Gruppo Di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza, the album becomes a soundtrack for journalistic and existential unease.

Now lovingly reissued on 100% recycled vinyl to honor the album’s ecological themes and forward-thinking spirit, this pressing is limited to just 400 copies—an essential for collectors of Italian library music, environmental design, and experimental soundscapes.

Reissue Features:

  • Pressed on 100% recycled eco-vinyl

  • Limited edition: first press of 400 copies

  • Gatefold jacket with obi

  • Extensive liner notes in Japanese & English translation
