Seam splits on record jackets are a common occurrence with vinyl: we cannot issue refunds or replacements for seam splits. We use sturdy mailers and stiffeners to minimise risk but to 100% avoid seam splits, we have added a notes section at checkout where you can request jacket-less shipping, or you can email us after placing your order — we’ll gladly accommodate this free of charge.
DESCRIPTION
The "Pimpalation" tape by Pimp C was released on Rap-A-Lot and presents the UGK member’s second solo full-length album in a compact cassette format. The release pushes Pimp C’s voice to the forefront and features contributions from heavyweight guests like Bun B, Scarface, Lil’ Keke, and Mike Jones, who add their touch to the album at key moments. On the production side, established names such as Mike Dean, Mannie Fresh, and Jazze Pha are involved, ensuring that the tape keeps pace both in craftsmanship and sonics with the major Southern releases of its era.
Musically, "Pimpalation" sits firmly within U.S. hip hop, with pronounced roots in Southern hip hop and gangsta rap; tracks like "Knockin’ Doorz Down" and "Pourin’ Up" rank among the standout moments of the album. The arrangements combine heavy basslines and classic drum patterns with melodic hooks, while Pimp C leverages his distinctive tone and direct lyricism. As a Rap-A-Lot release, the tape offers a focused snapshot of Pimp C’s early solo work and provides concrete points of connection both for fans of his UGK era and for listeners who pay close attention to producer-driven statements.
