Seam splits on record jackets are a common occurrence with vinyl: we cannot issue refunds or replacements for seam splits. DESCRIPTION
Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad return as The Midnight Hour with Lost Tapes, a collection of previously unheard recordings from sessions originally intended for their second album. Recorded after their acclaimed 2018 debut, the material was shelved when the pandemic interrupted the project and has now been unearthed for release through Jazz Is Dead.
The album continues the duo’s distinctive blend of orchestral soul, jazz and cinematic funk, built around live instrumentation, analogue production and richly arranged strings. Across nine tracks, Younge and Muhammad are joined by musicians including Loren Oden, Sam Dew, Malachi Morehead and the Linear Labs Orchestra, resulting in a warm, atmospheric continuation of The Midnight Hour’s sound.
