Luiz Carlos Fritz (Fritz Escovão), João Parahyba, and Nereu Gargalo — collectively known as Trio Mocotó — are perhaps best known as the iconic backing band for Jorge Ben Jr.. Their contributions can be heard on several of Jorge Ben’s most celebrated LPs, including his self-titled 1969 release, Força Bruta (1970), and Negro É Lindo (1971).
Beyond their collaborations, Trio Mocotó were pivotal in the evolution of samba rock — a genre-fusing blend of samba, soul, and rock, influenced heavily by American music of the era. This 1977 album showcases their signature sound with groove-heavy rhythms, playful lyricism, and masterful musicianship throughout.
